Local potter Tisha Cook can't decide what she loves more - throwing pots on a wheel or hand building. She loves hand building giraffe families - the parent and baby or two parents and a baby. Since she was young, she dreamed of giraffes, drew them and always saved her allowance to buy some semblance of a giraffe, no matter how small.
In addition to her pottery giraffes, Tisha creates a good balance by going back to the potter's wheel to make vases and bottles. Tall, short, skinny or bulbous, she gives each piece a great deal of attention and the smallest detail is meticulously fashioned. Every piece is thrown, trimmed, glazed and fires by her.
"Right now", explains Tish,"I am the glaze and kiln technician at a local ceramic teaching center. I love the science, technology and chemistry involved with the studio's many kilns."
The Gallery carries several color glazes and of course her giraffe families.
