Kimberly is a native of Asheville and a resident of Henderson County for over 20 years. Drawing was always natural for her, starting as a child, she loved to draw in the white spaces of magazines. Her family became used reading to all their magazines with doodles all over the pages.
She is self-taught with a few workshops under her belt. She is mainly an illustrator which lends itself well to using pen, ink, watercolor, carved block prints, silk painting and sgrafitto the Italian art of scratching through the top layer to reveal the next layer. Kimberly paints with ink, then scratches and engraves until the white board is shown. Then she uses colored inks to fill in the engravings and seals the unique illustration with a non-toxic varnish.
Kimberly by profession is a full time graphic artist within the publication/advertising industry. She offers workshops in the other mediums and teaches at a local community college.
The Gallery carries her lovely detailed bird and floral note cards, pendants and framed paintings.
